Feetspeak: 2E Shoes
Or
How an injured ankle, Gagne's DMGT model and De Bono’s Six Action Shoes helped me consider
the needs of Twice Exceptional (2E) students: those who are gifted and
have a learning disability

Is there an ideal
education program to cater for
the needs of students who are both gifted and have a learning
disability or difference?
The
Feetspeak: 2E Shoes Project
began
life as a short chatty blog entry about Jo’s injured ankle and
difficulty in finding shoes which could cater for both feet and the
connection to finding programs for 2E students.
However as she read articles on the topic and started to investigate
the type of programs available for both gifted and learning disabled
students using
Edward De Bono’s Six
Action Shoes as a framework to consider courses of action; Jo
discovered the reasons it is so difficult to cater simultaneously for
both the gifted and learning disabled aspects of the twice exceptional
student and also found some helpful practical strategies.
Jo has drawn on the analogies of a lame cheetah and an injured ankle and used De Bono's Six Action Shoes and Gagne's Differentiation
Model of Giftedness and Talent to investigate the types of gifted
programs and their suitability for students who also have a learning
disability or difference.
The Presentation includes use of Mind Maps and animations, PowerPoints and cartoons
developed by Jo
P.D. Sessions include the use of Mind Maps, the animations, PowerPoints and cartoons as
well as practical application exercises related to building
programs and teaching strategies for 2E students using thinking tools
such as S.C.A.M.P.E.R.
A set of cartoon posters and a children's poem picture book with
teaching units are also being developed and producing Feetspeak as a
DVD is being investigated
