Sprite really dislikes homework and makes up elaborate excuses to avoid doing it!
“Misunderstanding” the set tasks http://www.giftedresources.org/jo/blog/?p=3816
Hiding the homework work sheets http://www.giftedresources.org/jo/blog/?p=1817
Hiding her computer mouse http://www.giftedresources.org/jo/blog/?p=927
Quibbling about the due date http://www.giftedresources.org/jo/blog/?p=499
Claiming to not have suitable equipment or materials to complete the task http://www.giftedresources.org/jo/blog/?p=795
Being unable to find the things she needs. Where’s all my stuff gone? http://www.giftedresources.org/jo/blog/?p=82
Her excuses are so elaborate because Imaginational Dabrowski told her she was not allowed to say the dog ate her homework!
Strategies we have tried to help Sprite with her homework include
Homework strategies
Getting organized http://www.giftedresources.org/jo/blog/?p=771
Having a homework place set up for her http://www.giftedresources.org/jo/blog/?p=1069
Having suitable stationery available http://www.giftedresources.org/jo/blog/?p=807
Trying to maintain a healthy life balance http://www.giftedresources.org/jo/blog/?p=945
But we still have problems like this!
Critical thinking http://www.giftedresources.org/jo/blog/?p=3559
Fortunately we discussed the topic of homework on #gtchat and the transcript which includes many links to helpful resources has been created on Storify at http://sfy.co/iG6f
A write-up of the session will appear on the #gtchat blog soon and we can continue the discussion on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/#!/gtchatmod?fref=ts

With all those excuses, it’s plain to see that Sprite is twice-exceptional. Fortunate for her, she has someone who cares about her and looks after her!
