CHURCH SCHOOL PROGRAMS

It investigates sheep farming today in Australia compared to the work of shepherds in the Middle East in Biblical times, the derivation of the word 'pastor'  and the role of Pastors today

It focuses on thinking about the vast numbers of birds, fish, animals, stars, grains of sand which God has created
God is acknowledged as the God of every scale from the tiny to the immense.
We will  see that God gives an abundance of blessings to us. Some are for everybody and some are particularly for a certain person  
We will be raising our awareness of God’s provisions and counting our blessings (if we can!) and will be amazed what the Lord has done!
We will be keeping a personal Abundance Booklet

For each week there is a Presentation contained a short film clip which will be shown to the whole church before the Church School children go out to their class which will assist cohesion between the church and church school.

 PSALMS

PSALMS  is a 7 week program focusing on The Psalms and the life of King David and leading up to lessons about Good Friday and Easter.
There is discussion of the various types of psalm - psalms for all occasions, nature psalms and psalms containing Messianic prophecy.
The activities and worksheets can be found in the books included in the Bibliography of Sources at the end of the Teachers Notes

CLIMB EVERY MOUNTAIN 2010

 

This is an updated reprise of the Climb Every Mountain Program.
This series  teaches the stories of some of the Mountains mentioned in the Bible and what the events on these mountains have to teach us about our great and wonderful God and His dealings with man.
During each session we  locate the mountain to be visited on the map and the children stick a star on the map in their log. We set our watches back to the correct Biblical time (Old Testament or New Testament), learn a Bible Memory Verse, draw a "photo" of the event and send a "telegram from the top" telling what we have learned about God on that mountain.
Members of the congregation come in to Children's Church to enact the Biblical characters we meet on the mountains

The first session was a puppet play about a group of Australian animals who were invited by Kookaburra to climb up a mountain to meet God. Emu could not fly like Kookaburra. Koala was too sleepy. Wombat's legs were too short. Kangaroo was too busy training for the long jump event at the Olympics. Black Cockatoo was too talkative. But finally Possum persuaded them all to go and after many difficulties they reached the summit and had such a wonderful time that they were very reluctant to come back down but decided they should return and tell all the other animals.

 

  

 

 

We met Noah on Mt Ararat

      

 

and Moses on Mt Sinai

and the Prophet Elijah and Jessediah, a witness to the contest with the prophets of Baal on Mt Carmel

  

   

 

We met Talia who had sneaked out of her home to hear Jesus speaking about not being anxious about material things at the Sermon on the Mount

  

and Peter (not Simon Peter)  a good friend of Simon of Cyrene who witnessed the
Crucifixion of Jesus on Mt Calvary

THE CHRISTMAS PLANNER

THE CHRISTMAS PLANNER is a 12 week Christmas program based on the Christmas song The Twelve Days of Christmas.
It provides Bible verses, Advent calendars and check lists to help plan the busy Christmas season gatherings, gift giving and participation in Christmas activities so that the emphasis is on JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON.

The children are filling out a Christmas Planner booklet each and we are hoping that we will be able to find an economical way of printing extra booklets; so that they can be sold for Christmas gifts with the proceeds going to the ministry the church supports in Thailand.

BIRD WATCHING WITH BIBLICAL BINOCULARS

 

BIRD WATCHING WITH BIBLICAL BINOCULARS is an online interactive program in which we will be studying the birds that are mentioned in the Bible and finding out what we can learn from them. To make it more exciting we will be using some web 2.0 programs and the students will all have a blog space  to keep their own Biblical bird watching journals.
